Ballet Classes

Fees for the 2015-16 year are as follows: cost per month is $20 for 3 and 4 year olds and $25 for 5-11 year olds. Registration fee is $15. Ballet recital fee is $30. Costume fee is $65. Class fees are due by the 10th of each month.

Creative Movement  – 3 & 4 year olds, Mondays and Thursdays, 3:45-4:30 p.m. Ballet 2010 -3 & 4 year old class 029

Pre-ballet – 5 & 6 year olds, Mondays and Tuesdays, 4:30-5:30 p.m. Wednesdays 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Ballet – 7-10 year olds, Tuesdays 3:30-4:30 p.m. and Thursdays, 4:30-5:30 p.m.

The registration fee is $15 and the monthly cost is $25. The Creative Movement class is $20. Registration forms are available at the ROC Welcome Desk.

Senior Day at the ROC

Run for God
Run for God is a practical guide to running with a Christian focus.  For more information on the next training session to prepare for a 5K or 10K run, contact the coordinator, Kevin Zurmuehlen, at kzmarathon@me.com.

CPR Classes
These classes, led by Mary Brown with the American Heart Association, are offered quarterly. Training includes adult, child and infant CPR with AED training. Cost is $40. To sign up, email or call Debbie Pierce at (256) 704-5678, ext. 713.

Firearm Safety and Basic Pistol Class
This class, led by Ted Meilke, is designed for men and women, aged 18 or older, who want to learn how to safely handle firearms. Cost is $20. To sign up, email or call Debbie Pierce at (256) 704-5678, ext. 713. Pre-registration and payment is required.

Fishing Rod Building Class
In this class, you will build your own custom fishing rod that meets your own unique specifications. Whether you are a beginner interested in just building a “starter” rod, or an experienced tournament bass fisherman looking for that ultimate flipping stick, spinner bait rod, shakey worm rod, crank bait rod, etc. this class is for you. Jerry Guinn, a member of Tennessee Valley Fly Fishers and the Custom Rod Builders Guild, will teach this class on Mondays beginning in January 2016 in the Community Room at the Martha Fleming Ministry Center behind the Whitesburg Baptist Center. Fly Casting Clinic
Learn specific techniques on how to cast your fly rod. This class meets in the spring in the Craft Room at the Whitesburg Baptist Center. To register, contact Debbie at (256) 704-5678, ext. 713.

Quilting Classes
Beginner, intermediate and advanced classes are offered on Tuesdays in fall and spring semester formats, August – November and January – May. All classes are $5 per semester plus tools and fabric, payable when you sign up. Classes are limited in size and fill up quickly. Call Sandy Raber at 864-9415 or email her.

Women Empowerment Self Defense Class
This class is offered on Saturdays from 8 am – noon beginning September 24 through October 15. Cost is $25 for one person and $40 for two. In this course you will learn how to neutralize the 15 most common attacks ranging from having your hair grabbed to being pinned to the ground by a weapon-bearing assailant. Techniques used will employ leverage, technique and timing, so anyone, regardless of age or athletic ability, can make them work against larger opponents. Previous martial arts or self-defense experience is not required.

Woodworking Classes
The Recreation Ministry is offering a woodworking class with the object of building a classic Hepplewhite or Sharaton Style table, constructed of black cherry, that can be used as a hall or sofa table. The course will emphasize the use of standard and woodworking power and hand tools to size the workpieces, form the mortise-and-tenon joinery, handcut dovetails and prepare the surfaces for finishing. Some woodworking experience is desired and students will be required to furnish their own set of basic woodworking tools. Cost is $25.00 plus materials. This class will be taught in the fall. All classes meet in the woodshop at the Martha Fleming Center located behind the Whitesburg Baptist Center. Class size is limited to 6. To sign up, contact Jerry Guinn at 683-7181 or email him.

 

Wellness & Fitness

Christian Soldiers Karate
Christian Soldiers Karate offers self defense training with a focus on conservative and Christ-centered Bible teaching. Classes are ongoing and meet on Mondays and Thursdays at 5:30 pm and 6:30 pm in the Zone at the South Campus. Initial registration is $50 which includes the uniform and class fee for the first month. Fitness classes are $3 a class or $15 each month for unlimited classes.

Class Descriptions:

Balance & Stretch – Learn exercises to improve your balance and increase flexibility.

Body Sculpt – This cardio free workout will tone and strengthen the entire body.

Cardio Circuit  – This is an intense total body workout that will improve your fitness level and build strength while burning major calories.

Cardio Fusion – Rev up your heart rate and totally tone your body for one power packed hour using weights, fitness balls, bands and tubes

Muscle Works – With the use of weights, fitness balls, resistance tubes and bands you will build up strength and condition your body.

Zumba – The Latin inspired fitness party is easy to follow and calorie burning.

Zumba Gold – Active adults who are looking for a modified Zumba class that recreates the original moves that you love at a lower intensity.
