Darryl L. Craft accepts Senior Pastor role at Whitesburg Baptist Church

Whitesburg Baptist Church in Huntsville, Alabama is honored to announce that Dr. Darryl L. Craft will become Senior Pastor of the church. Dr. Craft comes to Whitesburg from Temple Baptist Church in Hattiesburg, Mississippi where he has served as Senior Pastor since 2012. Dr. Craft will begin his ministry at Whitesburg on September 16, 2018.

Dr. Craft earned a Doctor of Ministry degree in 1993 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern in 1988. Prior to that, he received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama-Huntsville.

Craft’s senior pastoral experience includes service at Temple Baptist Church in Hattiesburg; Green Street Baptist Church in High Point, NC from 2007-2012; Brainerd Baptist Church in Chattanooga, TN from 1999-2007; Shelbyville Mills Baptist Church in Shelbyville, TN from 1992-1999; and Capshaw Baptist Church in Capshaw, AL from 1988-1992.

He is married to the former Vicki Harper and they have three married children and three grandchildren: daughter Danielle and her husband, Travis Rann live in Chattanooga and have two children; son David and his wife, Anna live in Amesbury, England and have one child. Their son Joshua and his wife, Lauren live in Hattiesburg.

Dr. Craft has led pastor conferences and mission trips in various countries around the world and has also been engaged in Southern Baptist Convention activities in the U.S. for many years,  including service on the Committee on Nominations in 2015 and the Committee on Committees in 2006. He has also served as an adjunct professor for William Carey University and Tennessee Temple Seminary. He was a Chapel Speaker at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 2015.

Dr. Craft succeeds Dr. Jimmy Jackson who retired from Whitesburg Baptist Church in June after leading the church for 40 years.
