2 Timothy is probably the last recorded words of the apostle Paul. Written from Rome between A.D. 65-67, Paul writes to his young son in the ministry to prepare Timothy for the spiritual battles he would face. This was Paul’s manual for ministry. In this letter we realize that every Christian is a soldier in God’s mighty army. As soldiers, our instructions come from the Lord. This letter provides practical instructions for every Christian as they endeavor to live the Christian life. Just as Paul wrote these instructions to Timothy in his last days, we must receive these instructions as lessons for living in the last days before the return of Jesus Christ.
